Take a tour of the new library! The Union County Public Library (UCPL) reopened its doors on Jan. 12, following a full remodel and new additions. Community patrons are now allowed to self-tour the facility, walk on the new walking track, or shoot hoops in the new basketball gym. Other new features include weighted vests, resistance bands, hand weights, grip tools, pedometers, and step watches available for borrowing. Reid Health contributed to the walking track materials. The track itself features a soft, cushioned surface designed for comfort. If exercise isn’t your thing, you can sit and read a newspaper or book, or simply gaze out one of the many beautiful windows to enjoy the outdoor, picturesque scenery.

Since Jan. 12, UCPL has offered full access to those permitted to check out materials, use public computers, and print or copy documents. Patrons age 18 and older may use the indoor walking track or basketball gym with a signed waiver.
The newly designed parking area includes a book return in the middle to accommodate those who want to return items quickly. The new parking lot is considerably larger than previous lot, as well.

Several existing departments have been improved, including new tables, chairs, offices and check-out desks. The new facility feels open, with glass doors and windows that allow visitors to enjoy the view. Some areas of the facility are still under final construction, including the elevators, but this is only temporary. UCPL programs will resume in a few weeks, and their friendly staff is always available to assist with anything you need. UCPL hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
