The Union County Historical Society will host its annual fall gathering on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Water Works Market, 302 N. Main St., Liberty. The event features a $12 pork chop dinner served with baked beans, chips, and dessert, along with a special auction offering art, crafts, food, and local relics.

At 4 p.m., attendees can enjoy live music by the Migoski Family, a four-piece band specializing in contemporary gospel tunes and led by former Liberty Elementary music teacher Mandy Migoski.

The event is expected to be held under overcast skies with a pleasant temperature of 72 degrees, according to AccuWeather, with only a 20% chance of precipitation. This fusion of good food, good weather, gentle melodies and local camaraderie promises a delightful day for all. Most importantly, funds raised from the fall gathering will support ongoing projects, including initiatives to enhance the Historical Railroad Depot Museum.

According to society president Steve Logue, recent improvements include the installation of new metal signage on the north side of the Water Works building and near the entrance. He also shared the society’s ambitions to renovate and expand the depot museum in Liberty, aiming to make it a key tourist attraction for the town. The museum is located at 10 N Main St., Liberty (Google Maps). It is open Sundays from 2pm to 4pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day and also during special community events.
