Escape was founded by Andrew and Christine Combess, along with their son Simon and daughter Emilia. In 2023, their son Simon was diagnosed with autism and TCG became one of his escapes. For years, Andrew also shared this same hobby with buying, selling and trading Pokemon cards. Moving forward, thanks to the hard work of the entire Combess family, Escape is steadily growing into a popular brand name that card collectors know and respect.
In honor of their son, Andrew and Christine are monthly sponsors for the Autism Society in Dayton. They are very involved with the organization. Most recently (April 27), they helped sponsor and promote the 5K Walk, Run and Resource Fair for Autism Awareness and Acceptance. The Combess family is originally from Cincinnati. Three years ago, they moved to Union County to relax and escape the busyness of city life. Andrew grew up visiting Brookville Lake and always had affection for the town of Liberty. The pair opened their brick and mortar business in March 2024.
Collecting baseball cards is a thing of the past. Escape modernizes the trading card experience from what most folks consider nostalgic. The shop offers a vibrant community hub where players can gather, trade, and compete with a wide selection of English and Japanese trading card games. The owners are friendly, benevolent people with ambition and admiration for the community. If you’re visiting the area, or have an interest in trading card game collectibles, Escape to this must visit location in Union County!
